Defiant Throne
Defiant Throne was released on Amazon, yesterday. I am super excite, and just want to share the news with my friends. I hope my readers enjoy this Historical Fiction Novel, as much as I enjoyed researching and writing it. I was curious on how Bible History fits into into World History, especially during the Achaemenid Empire in the Book of Esther.
There were so many unanswered questions I had after reading the Book of Esther. The book begins with a young orphan Jewish woman living in Persia. It goes on to say she became queen, and risked her life to save the Jewish people from destruction when a man by the name of Haman managed to convince the king to genocide the Jews in the empire.
This story is not about Esther, it is about Queen Vashi. The infamous queen who was replaced by Esther.
Little by little I slowly pieced together the story of scattered history from ancient Greek, Persian and Hebrew literatures that has emerged from excavations, of prehistoric cultures in the Iranian plateau. I was passionate about my story and dived into research to create my outline and start my journey into the world of the Achaemenid Empire. I wanted to know how were woman treated during that era, and what happened to Queen Vashi? Featured as Queen Zenia.
I studied the Greek history of Herodotus, who lived in the Greek city of Halicarnassus, under the rulership of the Achaemenid Empire. I wanted detail information of the Persian's administrations, to develop content for the storyline: their guiding force, work, food, medicine, worship and struggles.
To understand the historiography of the antiquated Persian History, I studied the works of Sir Henry Rawlinson, a famous Assyriologist, and a Professor of Ancient History. He was a British army officer and Orientalist who translated the Old Persian trilingual cuneiform inscription of Darius 1.
Richard Stoneman, author of Xerxes, A Persian Life. His book give me insights of the fascinating character of King Xerxes, who is featured as King Dawit.
My goal was to piece together a work of fiction literature that would entertain, engage, and invite my readers to journey with me to the streets of the ancient world and discover what happened to Queen Vashi.
